Wow, it's been almost a whole year since I touched this thing. What a waste of time, you might say. Not so! I still receive every bit of feedback posted to this blog and my Youtube account, and every time it happens I feel a little pang of guilt that I'm not working on the video. But guilt is not the best state of mind in which to work, and I had my reasons for putting it aside. That being said, a large part of the reason the video is taking so long
is because I had to give priority to projects that pay the rent (same old story!). Being
a labour of love, PK Flash invariably took a backseat to my freelance
work. Now that the dust has settled and my animation skills have greatly improved, I thought it might be worth revisiting a few of my shelved projects. PK Flash being one of them.
Intriguingly, someone in the comments suggested I start a Kickstart/Indiegogo campaign and just get 'er done. As leery as I am about asking strangers for money for something so frivolous, it might be an idea worth entertaining. If the video was funded by fans, the video could be done in as little time as 4 months or less (with the additional bonus of some shiny new After Effects wizardry). I may put a poll up on this blog and see what the response is. In the meantime, I'll keep chipping away at my usual glacier pace...
Yes. Please. Do that. Give me a kickstarter link I can throw around to all my friends who I know love Earthbound. There are quite a lot, and the response to your animation when I show it to them for the first time is always stellar.

I'm just glad that your back to working on it. It's so fabulous, it'd be a shame if it became a dead project.
ReplyDeleteOut of curiosity, is this thing still going? I still watch the rough test, but that was in 2010. I really liked the rough test, and I would love to see more, and Im guessing so would other mother/earthbound fans.
ReplyDeleteYou shouldn't need a kickstarter to finish it. You just need the time to sit down and really crank it out. You've done this much on your own so far, and it is amazing. Just keep at it. Make time to work on it everyday, even if its just an hour a day.

I know it is hard but when I saw your video it remind me when I played mother as a child and it was amazing. you are very talented and your project is touching. If you happen to read this, I thank you for taking the time to do it and at least consider finishing this project. it means a lot to a fanbase without a huge amount of content :(
